Intake Section (to include in initial email to kerrabolton@gmail.com):
1. What story or project are you currently working on (or want to begin)?
Briefly describe the personal, creative, or professional work you’d like mentorship on.
Example:
I’m working on a memoir about surviving my mother’s fundamentalist religious cult and how I rebuilt my life as a public school teacher. I’ve kept journals for years and want to turn them into a narrative that’s both honest and empowering. Eventually, I hope to adapt it into a screenplay.
2. What stage is your project in?
Choose the option that best describes your current stage:
Idea or early brainstorm
Rough draft in progress
Full manuscript or detailed outline
Revising or adapting an existing work
Other (please describe)
Example:
I’m between a rough draft and full manuscript. I’ve written about 25,000 words, but the structure isn’t clear and I keep rewriting the beginning.
3. What is your ultimate goal with this story or project?
Check all that apply or write your own:
Personal healing or legacy
Publication (book, article, essay)
Adaptation into a film or series
University press or academic submission
Other (please explain)
Example:
My goal is both personal healing and professional: I want to publish this as a memoir and eventually pitch it as a limited series for television.
4. What support do you most need from Kerra in this process?
Select or describe the kind of mentorship that would help you most:
Help shaping structure and story arc
Feedback on tone, voice, or truth-telling
Support with adaptation into visual form
Accountability and deadlines
Strategic guidance for pitching or positioning
