Woodbine Studio Creative Residency 2026
A three-month virtual residency for writers and artists who need accountability, structure, and community to move their projects toward completion.
A Residency Designed for Finishing
The Woodbine Studio Creative Residency is a three-month virtual program for writers and artists advancing a work-in-progress.
Each season has its own focus: Winter (Foundation) helps you rebuild rhythm and momentum, while Autumn (Refinement) guides you through revision and completion.
Enrollment is capped at eight, designed to help you build momentum, deepen your craft, and actually finish what you start with clarity, discipline, and care.
It’s not a class. It’s a working studio designed for progress you can measure and results you can feel.
How the Residency Works
Each three-month residency provides a clear framework for momentum and completion. Residents receive structured sessions, developmental editing, and a focused, creative community that keeps them accountable from start to finish. Enrollment is capped at eight.
-

Monthly Studio Sessions
Two-hour monthly sessions that build steady momentum: a 45–50 minute write-in, group sharing, and a targeted 15-minute craft focus.
-

Developmental Editing
Residents may submit one piece each month for developmental editing, receiving clear, substantive guidance to deepen their work, strengthen their craft, and advance their project.
-

Creative Accountability
Small-group check-ins provide space for progress updates, encouragement, and honest reflection. Structure meets support to maintain steady momentum.
-

Closing Salon
Each residency concludes with a small celebratory gathering where residents share excerpts of their work with peers, friends, and family.
How We Work Together
The Woodbine Studio residency is both kind and exacting. You’ll join a high-trust cohort of serious creators who balance rigor with care.
Feedback is honest but never careless. Accountability is steady but never punitive. You’ll get the clarity, momentum, and professional support needed to make meaningful progress—without the noise of competition or performative critique.

What Happens After You Apply
Once you submit your application, you’ll receive a short form to confirm your focus for the season. Within a few days, you’ll get a welcome message with next steps and key dates for your residency.
The studio intentionally keeps each cohort small to preserve community and ensure every resident receives individualized attention. If a session fills, you’ll be offered early access to the next season.
Questions You Might Have
-
This residency is for writers, artists, and filmmakers who already have a project in motion and need the accountability, structure, and community to finish it.
It’s not a course or a casual drop-in space. It’s a working studio — small, serious, and supportive. You’ll fit best if you’re ready to show up live, give and receive thoughtful feedback, and treat your creative work as a central commitment, not an afterthought. If you’re still deciding whether to make time for your work, it’s better to wait. But if you know you’re ready to move your project toward completion, this residency will give you the structure and momentum to get there.
-
Winter Residency — Foundation (January–March)
You’ll leave the Winter season with a strong creative rhythm, a clear plan, and measurable progress on your project. The focus is on rebuilding discipline, reconnecting to your voice, and creating sustained momentum — whether that’s drafting new pages, revising early material, or re-establishing trust in your process.Autumn Residency — Refinement (September–November)
You’ll leave the Autumn season with a cohesive, polished body of work ready for next-stage development — submission, pitching, publication, or production. The focus is on structure, clarity, and emotional coherence, supported by targeted feedback that strengthens both craft and confidence.Together, the two seasons form a complete creative cycle: Foundation builds strength and consistency; Refinement brings the work to completion.

Yes. The studio runs on real-time engagement and shared accountability. Live sessions are where creative energy and real breakthroughs happen. If you can’t attend live, this may not be the right season to apply.
-
Residency spaces are limited and confirmed seats cannot be deferred or transferred to later seasons. Once accepted and registered, your contribution secures a place that cannot be held open. If you’re unsure about timing, apply for the season you can fully attend.
Contributions are non-refundable after acceptance, and refunds aren’t available for change of mind or partial attendance. -
Each cohort is intentionally small to protect the integrity of the space. Selection is based on readiness, alignment, and seriousness of intent, not pedigree or publication history.
-
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. You’ll receive a response within two weeks with either an acceptance, wait-list notice, or early invitation to the next season.
